A man was arrested Friday in connection with a shooting this week at a hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip that left one dead and two others seriously injured.
Billy Deray Hemsley, 54, was held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder in the shooting Thursday in an eighth-floor hotel room at the Mirage, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement on Twitter.
The shooting caused the iconic casino to go into lockdown for more than two hours.
Police received information about the shooting around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Capt. Dori Koren said at a Friday news conference. Officers who arrived at the scene found three people shot dead, Koren said. A man died and two women were taken to hospital in critical condition, he said.
Authorities did not immediately identify those who were shot or provide additional details of their injuries.

The shooting began with an argument with several family members inside the hotel room, the police said. At some point during the argument, police said Hemsley shot all three and fled.
Officers located Hemsley in a southeast Las Vegas neighborhood on Friday and he was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, police said. He was sentenced to detention without bond in an initial court appearance on Saturday, according to local media.
Hemsley has a long criminal history that includes felony convictions dating back to 1987, according to records reviewed by The Associated Press.
Hemsley, who also used the last name Moore and spelled his name multiple ways, was released by the Nevada Department of Corrections in September 2019 after being convicted in February 2013 of battery with a deadly weapon, the AP and the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
He was also accused of stabbing his girlfriend and stealing her vehicle in 2012, shooting a cousin in 2003 and choking a girlfriend during an argument in 2005, the authorities reported. media.
It was not immediately clear whether Hemsley had an attorney who could be reached for comment.
