Man arrested for “domestic disturbance” Saturday morning

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A man is currently in custody following a “domestic dispute” that led to a standoff with authorities, according to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

MCSO said deputies responded to a “domestic dispute” Saturday morning with a person believed to be armed with a gun.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the man through a door, but he refused to come out until he stopped speaking with deputies.

At that point, a perimeter was established and the Morgan County SWAT team was called in case emergency entry was necessary while negotiators spoke with the man.

Negotiators were able to get one victim out of the home and he was treated by emergency medical services.

Authorities later managed to get the man out of his home and he was taken into custody.

MCSO says the scene is now clear.
