Man arrested for claiming responsibility for the murder of NI Detective John Caldwell | UK News

A man has been arrested in connection with a claim of responsibility by the New IRA for the murder of Detective John Caldwell.
A spokesman for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said the man was arrested on Saturday morning after officers searched a property in Londonderry.
He was arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and is being questioned at Musgrave Serious Crime Suite.
It comes after a typed message was posted on a city wall, allegedly from the New IRA, claiming responsibility for the attempted murder of Mr Caldwell.
Police said the new IRA was the main line of inquiry in the investigation.
Mr Caldwell was shot dead on February 22 after coaching a football training session at a sports complex in Omagh.
He was shot dead in front of his young son as he put footballs in the trunk of his car, and he remains critically ill in hospital.
