Man accused of concealing gun on CTA Red Line platform

CHICAGO (CBS)— A man is charged after trying to flee when he allegedly hid a gun on the CTA Red Line platform on Tuesday morning.

Erion Harrington, 22, is charged with one count of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of criminal damage to government property and one count of misdemeanor misdemeanor ‘intrusion.

Police say he was observed on the platform in the 1100 block of South State Street around 1:08 a.m. tightening his belt where he appeared to be hiding the gun.

The assailant tried to flee but was apprehended by the public transport tactical team, according to the police.

A weapon was recovered and the attacker was taken into custody and charged accordingly.

Harrington is due in bond court on August 15.
