Mahindra unveils new Inglo Ev platform, 5 E-Suvs and a design studio

The Mahindra Group launched its Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) studio in Oxfordshire, UK on Monday. Mahindra & Mahindra also unveiled its new INGLO EV platform as well as five e-SUVs under two EV brands.

“The time has come for electric vehicles,” Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said on Monday at the launch of the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) studio in Oxfordshire, UK.

“The design studio is going to be a key differentiator,” said Mahindra, adding that the design center will draw on the best automotive design talent in the UK.

He pointed out that the company entered the three-wheeled electric vehicle space in 2017.

“Today, with government support and rapidly reducing ownership costs, the time has come for Mahindra to enter the four-wheel battery electric vehicle space,” he added.

The president said the electric vehicles they are showing today represent the company’s global ambition.

Speaking exclusively to CNBC-TV18 on the sidelines of the launch, Anand Mahindra said it’s all about the heart today, not the mind.

“Mahindra has always sought to make leaps and bounds. We are a small company compared to the big players, so we cannot hedge our bets and have to go all out, in what we do. So we are moving full speed ahead and let’s step into a new galaxy,” Mahindra added.

Later, Mahindra Group Chief Executive Anish Shah said the company aims to have 25-30% of its vehicles electric by 2027.

The INGLO platform

The INGLO platform encapsulates progressive battery technology, brain power, platform architecture and human-machine interface, the company said, adding that the platform will underpin all vehicles Mahindra electrics in the future.

“INGLO offers class-leading safety standards, exhilarating performance, excellent range and efficiency, exemplary driving dynamics, versatility and an intelligent HMI. INGLO also offers a multi-sensory driving experience with a futuristic head-up display and augmented reality-enabled, edge-to-edge display, 5G network capability, and over-the-air updates that will keep EVs looking like new,” the statement read.

Launch of two new electric brands

The Mahindra Group has launched two new electric brands, the XUV and the brand new Born Electric (BE) for electric ground vehicles.

The XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09 are based on the INGLO platform and use Volkswagen’s electric vehicle components.

XUV.e8 will be launched in December 2024, XUV.e9 in April 2025, BE.05 in October 2025, BE.07 in October 2026, while the launch period of BE.09 is yet to be determined.
