Lucas Digne: Aston Villa completes signing of Everton left-back on contract worth up to £ 25million | News transfer center

Aston Villa has signed Everton left-back Lucas Digne in a deal worth up to £ 25million.

This follows several days of negotiations, in which Villa brushed off Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham’s interest in the former Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona defender.

Steven Gerrard signs his second signing as manager following the arrival of former Liverpool teammate Philippe Coutinho, with Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma also being a target.

Gerrard told the club’s website: “When Lucas became available we jumped at the chance to bring him to the club.

“Signing a player of his pedigree and quality in the January window is a great addition to our squad and his arrival excites me and everyone associated with Aston Villa.”

“Everything must come to an end,” Digne wrote on Instagram. “I just didn’t expect it to end this way. What happened and some of the things that were said about me last month made me very sad.

“I will always take you with me in my heart wherever I go.

“Sometimes it only takes one outside person to destroy a great love story.”
