Half a century from Quinton de Kock and some late fireworks from Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder saw Lucknow Super Giants put a competitive 176 on the board. LSG struggled after good bowling for KKR, but Stoinis and Holder hit Mavi for 30 in an over to help their side score well from a two-step wicket.

Lucknow had the worst possible start to the game as captain KL Rahul went off for a diamond duck. De Kock finally reached his half-century as he and Deepak Hooda put in 73 for the second wicket. However, KKR clawed their way back with Narine striking to send the South African off for 50.

Krunal Pandya teamed up with Deepak Hooda and stabilized the ship before the latter was fired by Andre Russell for 41. The wet Indian teamed up with compatriot Sunil Narine to put the breaks on LSG innings with Krunal Pandya and Ayush Badoni struggling to score at pace.

LSG appeared to be heading for a lower-than-par tally when Marcus Stoinis and Jason Holder threw five sixes in the penultimate to lift the newcomers over the 160-point mark. Lucknow ultimately had 176 on the board, giving their bowlers something to defend against.
