They follow their hearts… without being seen.
“Love is Blind” is back for season 5. Now streaming on Netflix, the reality series, which premiered in 2020, follows couples as they date, fall in love and get engaged – all without look at each other until After they decided to get married.
In the previous four seasons, 20 couples got engaged, but only 7 couples from previous seasons are still together.
This season’s singles are from Houston, Texas.
In the first batch of Season 5 episodes, there was plenty of drama and surprises as couples found each other and abandoned each other, had dramatic arguments, or decided to get married. Here’s who got engaged.
Spoilers ahead for the first 4 episodes of season 5 of “Love is Blind”.
JP and Taylor
Jared “JP,” 32, a firefighter, and Taylor, 26, a teacher, were the first couple to agree to say “I do.”
During their time in the infamous “pods” (the rooms in “Love is Blind” where single people “date” by talking to each other through a wall), he impressed her with stories about his work while running around in buildings on fire. They discovered a surprising connection: He attended the same school where she currently teaches kindergarten.
They became friends over their similar outlooks on life, as they both want to get married a few years before having children. because they agreed that once the kids come along, it’s all about the kids.
“I think we have similar values,” she said. “You’re nice and you’re a little silly, I like that.”
During their very first meeting, she said, “Propose him now!” » After she said, “Just kidding,” he replied, “I will.” » He left, declaring that she was the one.
Taylor shared that she had struggled to “love” myself in the past. After she and JP crossed paths, JP told her, “You’re really pretty” and commented that he felt like “the luckiest man in the world.”
Time will tell if he’ll still feel that way at the end of the show.
Lydia and Milton
Lydia, 32, a Puerto Rican geologist, has agreed to marry Milton, 25, a petroleum engineer. Their time together did not go smoothly. At first, Milton was excited about Lydia being a geologist, but she responded to his enthusiasm by saying, “You’re such a nerd!” »
She was also unsure of their age difference, lamenting that Milton was younger than his brother.
But in the end, he won her over. Their age difference seems like it could be a continued source of conflict as the series moves forward into the phase where they vacation together and meet each other’s families.
Lydia also caused drama elsewhere on the show because she knew her colleague Uche, 34, a lawyer, in real life. While Uche formed a connection with Aaliyah, 29, an ICU travel nurse, Aaliyah eventually abandoned Uche, leaving him alone in the pods. A message informed him that she had decided to leave the experiment, thus setting him on his feet, just when he thought they might get engaged. It wasn’t entirely Lydia’s fault – since Aaliyah and Uche also had a conflict where she was sobbing and felt like he was judging her for cheating on her in a past relationship. However, when Lydia told Aaliyah about him, it ended up being the nail in the coffin, preventing this duo from joining the engaged ranks.
Izzy and Stacy
Izzy, 31, who works in sales, and Stacy, 34, an operations manager, got engaged. Izzy was one of the most popular men on the show, wowing the ladies with his friendly personality and dancing expertise (since he said he was raised by his mother and aunts).
He also had a connection with Johnie, 32, a lawyer, and for a while it looked like Izzy and Johnie might be headed for marital bliss, until Izzy chose the more laid-back former college athlete Stacy , much to Johnie’s dismay.
As Izzy and Stacy plan to go on a romantic vacation, meet each other’s families, and plan their wedding, her recent relationship with Johnie could be what threatens her relationship with Stacy.
New episodes of “Love is Blind” air Fridays on Netflix. Episodes 5-7 will be released on September 29, episodes 8-9 on October 6, and the wedding finale will air on October 10.
