‘Lord of the Rings’ Cast Takes Strong Stand Against Racist Backlash

The cast of “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” resists hate after being hit with racist backlash from fans of the film adaptations and the original novels.

“The Rings of Power,” a fantasy drama series that premiered on Prime Video this month, features people of color as a number of the show’s elves and dwarves, a “major difference” from the past adaptations of JRR Tolkien’s books, The Packing noted.

The casting decisions have caused Amazon to temporarily suspend user reviews of the series on its platform due to people “bombing” it.

The cast of “The Rings of Power” took to the show’s Twitter account on Wednesday to send a clear message that they will stand up for their cast.

“We, the cast of Rings of Power, stand united in absolute solidarity and against the relentless racism, threats, harassment and abuse that some of our fellow cast members of color experience daily,” the cast wrote.

“We refuse to ignore or tolerate it.”

The cast went on to say that BIPOC “belongs in Middle-earth and they’re here to stay.”
