Rsenal legend Thierry Henry gave Albert Sambi Lokonga a taste of the “mentality” required to succeed at the club following the midfielder’s summer transfer.
The Gunners paid £ 15million for the Belgian as Mikel Arteta looked to improve the creativity of his midfielder, the 21-year-old impressing for Anderlecht in recent seasons.
Lokonga got his first call-up to his country’s senior squad in March, shortly before Henry returned as an assistant coach, and the player has since been able to choose the brains of the former striker.
Speaking to Henry, he told club media: “Not before joining as I was only with him for two days and then left camp with the national team.
“He gave me advice about Arsenal, the way people are, the mentality I need to have. Little things like that.
Since arriving in north London he has made seven appearances, including a 90-minute game against Brighton last time around.
Mikel Arteta is expected to choose between Lokonga, Mohamed Elneny and a potential return for Granit Xhaka when Premier League action resumes against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
