Liz Truss broke UK rules with book revealing Queen’s advice – POLITICO

Although Truss submitted his book to Cabinet Office officials for review, no final approval was sought before publication.

Truss wrote that Queen Elizabeth II told him to “pace yourself” during a meeting with the monarch. She said the Queen told her that being prime minister was “incredibly aging” during their 20-minute conversation, which became the monarch’s last official engagement before her death a few days later.

But a Cabinet Office spokesperson said: “This book has been submitted to the Cabinet Office for consideration.

“While we did not want to make details of the discussions public, we did not accept the final wording. So the author is breaking the Radcliffe rules.

The Radcliffe Rules prohibit the publication of content which is harmful or destructive to national security, the UK’s international relations or confidential government business.

Truss’ team did not respond to POLITICO’s request for official comment.
