Liverpool’s chances for historic quadruple slashed after Champions League tie as Man City stand on their way to Premier League and FA Cup glory

Liverpool’s chances for the historic treble were slashed today after bookmakers saw huge interest in the market at the 25/1 price.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Benfica to progress to the Champions League semi-finals and were drawn to Villarreal just days after keeping the pressure on Man City for Premier League glory.

UK bookmaker Coral has slashed their chances of Liverpool pulling off the unlikely 16/1 feat due to strong interest this morning.

Liverpool won the EFL Cup in February after beating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley Stadium.

They have since qualified for the Champions League semi-finals following their win over Benfica on Wednesday night.

They secured a slightly more lenient draw with Villarreal and as a result many bettors backed them to win all four trophies; EFL Cup, Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

It’s an unlikely feat, even the best teams in the Premier League have never achieved it before, a double or a hat-trick was considered an incredible feat.

A quadruple will top all of those, but there are still a few games and teams that stand in their way.

Man City remain a point ahead of them in the league, but one mistake from either side could spell a drastic change in the title race.

Their league rivals could also be on their way to the Champions League if they both win their respective semi-finals.

In the FA Cup, Man City stay their course as they face off at Wembley on Saturday for the semi-final knockout tie.

The winner of this tie will face either Chelsea or Crystal Palace in the final.

The end of the season is going to be a busy and nervous one for Klopp’s side, who have a plethora of knockout ties in every cup competition and seven other must-see Premier League fixtures.

“The quadruple has never been done before but many bettors feel that Liverpool are going to make history this season. We have placed bets ranging from 200-1 down to the current odds of 16-1. It will be a very costly outcome if Jurgen Klopp’s men were to complete the full sweep,” said John Hill of Coral.
