Liverpool XI vs Manchester City: Confirmed team news, planned roster and latest injuries for today’s FA Cup
Mohamed Salah will be fit to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals today, but Liverpool remain uncertain about Diogo Jota’s inclusion at Wembley.
Although the Reds boss made several changes to his starting line-up for Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Benfica, there were still a few worries to emerge from the game.
A jab at Diogo Jota has him doubting Saturday’s trip while Klopp assured fans that Salah emerged unscathed from his short substitute appearance.
“About Mo’s shot, I don’t really know. No one has told me yet. I spoke with two physiotherapists. No one told me Mo had a problem. For now everyone should be fine,” Klopp said after the game.
“I said last night that Diogo had taken a blow – which swelled slightly right after the game, obviously while I was in a press conference,” he added on Thursday.
“Diogo, there’s a good chance he’ll be fine but we have to take a closer look tomorrow. That’s it.”
Liverpool made seven changes for the midweek fixture, allowing Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson complete rest while Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho had just one bench break.
Roberto Firmino’s brace makes him a candidate to start at Wembley as Klopp formulates his attack to face City for the second time in a week.
It remains to be seen if Caoimhin Kelleher will be handed the gloves as Liverpool’s cup keeper, or if usual number 1 Alisson will return for such a huge game.
Predicts Liverpool XI (4-3-3): Keller; Alexandre-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Jota, Mané.
