The Guinea international was sent off in the second half of Manchester United’s 5-0 defeat last weekend at Old Trafford after a terrible red card challenge from Paul Pogba.
However, he resumed training this week after it was confirmed it was all bruising and he starts today, although Liverpool – who made 10 changes from the win in Carabao Cup midweek against Preston – again without Fabinho, who still suffers from a knee problem.
Thiago Alcantara is getting close to a return to action following a calf injury, but today’s game comes too early for the Spaniard as expected.
Jurgen Klopp has recalled Sadio Mane after resting against Manchester United.
The Liverpool boss has also decided to stay with Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk rather than bringing Joel Matip back to the squad.
“Naby Keita looks good,” Klopp said on Friday.
“We were all surprised, but he was obviously lucky, so I think he will be ready.
“With Fabinho it doesn’t look good, it’s a little more complicated. Not too complicated, but complicated enough to keep him out again, probably. I’m still waiting for the latest news, but he was not yet in team training and that is never a good sign.
“Thiago was training as a team for the first time yesterday. We did a session where he could be a part of pretty much the whole session, [but] that doesn’t mean he’s ready to play soccer, unfortunately.
“We’ll see what we do with him, but he’s closer than he was last week, much closer. Now we have to see what we do with it. “
