Liverpool forward Diogo Jota ruled out for rest of season, Jurgen Klopp confirms

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Diogo Jota has been ruled out for the remainder of the season from Liverpool after sustaining a foot injury.

The Portugal international was injured in Thursday’s 4-2 win at Manchester United and was therefore excluded from the Reds’ trip to West Brom at The Hawthorns on Sunday.

Any period without Jota will be a blow to Klopp and Liverpool

Klopp gave a further update on Jota’s condition during his media duties at the meet.

“No good thing without a bad thing – so we won at Manchester United but Diogo got something with the bone,” Klopp saidSky Sports.

“Not too serious but serious enough to end the season. That’s it.”

Jota has enjoyed an impressive first season for Liverpool, scoring nine goals in 18 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane returned for the trip to the relegated West Brom.

The forward replaced Jota, while Curtis Jones started ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum, who was on the bench.

Hal Robson-Kanu won his first league start to the league for Albion, with Mbaye Diagne on the bench, while Grady Diangana made his first Premier League start since January.
