Biden supports Israel in televised speech after terror attacks
Sirens rang in Jerusalem as explosions were heard in the holy city today, as Israel ordered a “full siege” of Gaza in retaliation for Hamas’ unprecedented attack.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant formally announced the blockade of the besieged enclave on Monday, saying authorities would cut off electricity and prevent the entry of food and fuel.
“No electricity, no food, no fuel. We are fighting animals and we will act accordingly,” he said.
Hamas launched salvos towards Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, while rockets continued to rain down on the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon.
More than 10 British citizens are believed to be dead or missing in Israel, while more than 260 bodies have so far been removed from the attacked Supernova festival. British citizen Jacob Marlowe is also among the missing.
At least 800 people are believed to have been killed in Israel, local media reported – a staggering toll on a scale the country has not seen in decades – and nearly 500 people were killed in Gaza, and thousands wounded. Palestinian activists claimed to hold more than 130 prisoners.

Hezbollah member killed in Israeli bombing in Lebanon – sources
A member of Lebanese Hezbollah was killed in an Israeli bombardment in southern Lebanon on Monday, three sources in Lebanon said, as the conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants spread to the Israeli-Lebanese border.
Two of the sources, both close to Iran-backed Hezbollah, said his death would spark a reaction.
The man was killed in an Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon provoked by a cross-border raid by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group, which has been fighting alongside the Hamas group since it launched its surprise attack on Israel on Saturday.
The Israeli military said soldiers supported by helicopters killed at least two gunmen crossing the border.
The armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) claimed responsibility for this operation.
A Hezbollah official had previously denied any involvement by the group.

UK will ‘review’ its support for Israel and British citizens in the country
The Foreign Secretary said the UK would “review” its support for Israel and British citizens in the country as the conflict continues.
He told TV channels: “This afternoon, the Prime Minister chaired a Cobra meeting during which we assessed the situation on the ground.
“We reaffirmed our support for Israel in its self-defense against this terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas against unarmed civilians on several occasions. I spoke with foreign ministers from across the region and beyond. The Prime Minister has spoken with the Israeli Prime Minister and will also discuss it with our allies.
“It’s an ongoing situation. And of course we will review our support for Israel and of course British nationals in Israel as the situation evolves. »
