Lions’ Dan Campbell defines’ true alpha ‘, continues tradition of great coaching quotes

Dan Campbell quotes are mmm, mmm, good.

The new Lions head coach stirred the soup during his introductory news conference that made headlines in which he said the Lions would (allegorically [we hope]) bites a bunch of kneecaps after being knocked over to show how tough a team would be during their tenure as a coach.

On Tuesday, the human embodiment of pre-workout supplements added another entry in Campbell’s Book, channeling the power of Instagram bodybuilders and Twitter hardships everywhere when he came up with a definition of what a “true alpha” is.

Campbell’s quote was in response to a question of who would have decisions on the roster between himself and another newcomer, general manager Brad Holmes, to which Campbell reassured there would be no whim between the two.

“Well, here’s what I would say … but here’s what I would say about a true alpha: A true alpha knows when it’s time to concede for the betterment of the team,” said Campbell. “And so I would tell you one way or another, there’s been a couple of things already where it’s like – maybe we don’t – ‘You see it a little bit over. this way I see it a bit ‘… had a problem. And we won’t have a problem. “

Campbell landed the job with the Lions in January after spending 10 seasons coaching tight ends with the Dolphins and Saints. Campbell also served as Miami’s interim head coach in 2015 and has long been seen as a quality candidate for a head coaching position in the league.

With a new GM, coach and QB under center, it’s a new era for Lions football in 2021. And, at the very least, Campbell will be good for one or two more quotes this year.
