Lionel Messi scores FIVE as Argentina beat Estonia in friendly

A stunning performance for the footballing great saw him open the scoring from the penalty spot in the eighth minute before doubling his and his country’s lead on the stroke of half-time.

Messi scored his hat-trick within two minutes of the restart and added his fourth and fifth strikes in the 71st and 76th minutes.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker was, unsurprisingly, named man of the match.

Gary Lineker was quick to praise Messi, tweeting shortly after the final whistle: “The extraordinary Lionel Messi scored all five goals for Argentina tonight.

“Amazingly, it’s not his purpose that sets him apart from the other greats. He’s also as good a passer and dribbler as anyone who’s ever played The Messiah.”

It’s not the first time Messi has scored five goals in a game.

In 2012, Messi became the first player to score five goals in a Champions League match as Barcelona beat Bayer Leverkusen 7-1 to claim a 10-2 aggregate victory in the quarter-finals.
