Lionel Messi looked less than impressed with manager Mauricio Pochettino as he was substituted as PSG needed a game-winning goal against Lyon on Sunday.
The Argentina legend made his home debut for his new club but still hasn’t scored for them as they took one final victory with him sitting on the bench.
Messi hit the post with a free kick and saw a head-to-head saved by Anthony Lopes in the first half.
In the second half, Lucas Paqueta escaped and gave the visitors a surprise lead in the 54th minute.
Soon after, Neymar was brought back to the box and it looked like Messi’s moment was about to come.
However, to the surprise of some, it was Neymar himself who took the kick and finished it with aplomb to bring the level of play.
With the game tied at 1-1 and just 15 minutes to go, Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria were still on the pitch.
Another surprise, Messi was the first to give way.
Pochettino opted to bring in Achraf Hakimi in place of the legend who seemed to subtly show his displeasure with the decision as he walked past his manager.
In the end, the game ended 2-1 as Mauro Icardi finally found the winner of PSG, coming home in added time from Mbappe’s center.
