Lionel Messi could leave Paris Saint-Germain and join MLS within the next 12 months, talkSPORT has reported.
The 34-year-old shocked the footballing world last summer when he left Barcelona for a new challenge in the French capital as the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner left the Catalan giants after more than 20 years at the club.
By his own high standards, Messi has found life in Paris difficult with fitness issues hampering his form.
Despite scoring seven goals and 11 assists so far this season, Messi hasn’t seemed to enjoy his football as much as he did at Camp Nou, leading to speculation over how long his stay in Ligue 1.
According to Matt Lawton of The Timeshis time in Europe could end sooner rather than later.
Speaking on The Press Box, Lawton said: “Lionel Messi hasn’t been right since he arrived there. I think he will be in MLS by the end of the year.

“I think he will be at Inter Miami.”
Responding to claims he didn’t look happy at PSG, Lawton said: “Yeah, and now I think he’s already considering his next move, that’s what I understand.
“I was in Miami a few weeks ago doing a track with Phil Neville and I think that’s where Lionel Messi will be next year.
“He will play in MLS, enjoying the Florida sun. He already has a house there.
“I think he’s finished.”
It comes after Darren Bent admitted the Argentina star seemed like he didn’t want to be there as PSG crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid last week.
“[He had] one or two little touches, but I expected so much more from [Messi]”, said the former Tottenham striker on Drivetime.
“What I will say about Messi is that he looks like Marcus Rashford at Man United.
“Rashford looks miserable at United and Messi just looks like ‘I don’t want to be here’.
“Maybe the smile on his face would come back [if he returned to Barcelona].
“I don’t think we’ll see the Messi we saw who was head and shoulders above everyone else.
“But he just doesn’t seem to fit in at PSG.
“I bet he probably thinks ‘I wish I was back at Barca’. He didn’t want to leave in the first place.
