The Subway Line 1 of Lima reported on a crime that occurred inside one of the cars of the electric train, on Thursday night, at La Cultura station, located between Javier Prado and Aviación avenues.
The institution reported that Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, a fight broke out between two groups of passengers inside train cars.
“Immediately after the incident was reported, security personnel from Lima 1 were present and activated the protocols for this type of situation, with the participation of the Railway Police, being taken off the train at the La Cultura station.”, they pointed out.
As a result of the incident, they identified that one of those involved in the fight was unconscious. “At first, he was given first aid, to later be transferred by our medical service to the Dos de Mayo Hospital to the shock trauma unit”, they specified.
The victim was identified as Luis Giancarlo Girao Duran (38 years old). The man had left the house of his brother whom he had gone to greet for his birthday in Surco and took the Lima Metro at the Jorge Chávez station in the direction of La Victoria.
“What the policemen told us is that there was a brawl inside the car, at La Cultura station. My brother got in to separate and a person stabs him in the chest”, declared the brother of the victim to the news program América Noticias.
The Girao Durán family doubts the version and assures that they did not receive official information from any representative of Line 1 of the Lima Metro.
Also, they were outraged that no one has been detained for the serious act which cost his relative his life.
Family members also question why Girao Durán was transferred to the Hospital Dos de Mayo and not to a closer clinic for immediate care.
Meanwhile, from the Lima Metro, they stated that they have been collaborating with the National Police in the investigation of the events with the recording of images captured by the service’s security cameras.
“We condemn this fact and extend our condolences to the relatives of the affected passenger”, they indicated.
It should be noted that this is the second incident with victims that occurs at the La Cultura station of Line 1 of the Lima Metro. On Friday, July 1, around 11 a.m. on Friday, July 1, there was a shooting at the entrance of the station. The incident left a 30-year-old woman injured after being hit by a bullet.
A day later, agents of the National Police they captured Olga Lorena Melgar Moreno (21), presumed intellectual author of the attack against Milagros Rocío Arando Luapa (30). The detainee would integrate the dangerous foreign criminal mega-gang ‘The Train of Aragua’.
