Tampa Bay Lightning winger Ondrej Palat played the hero in Sunday’s Game 3 win over the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Palat took a pass from Nikita Kucherov and beat Rangers goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin with about 42 seconds left in the game. Palat’s score proved to be the match winner in the 3-2 victory. It was Palat’s sixth goal in the playoffs.

New York now leads the series against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champions 2-1.
Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the second period. Mika Zibanejad scored his 10th playoff goal and about two minutes later Chris Kreider added his 10th.
Kucherov scored midway through the second and went into third down 2-1.

Longtime Lightning star Steven Stamkos tied the game more than a minute into the third period thanks to assists from Kucherov and Corey Perry. Kucherov added his third point of the match with an assist on Palat’s goal.
Tampa Bay needed to score a few goals past Shesterkin. The Lightning had 51 shots on goal during the game. Rangers only took 30 shots against Andrei Vasilevskiy.
The Lightning were close to losing 3-0 in the series, but their win at home puts the team back in the series.

Game 4 of the Conference Finals is scheduled for Tuesday night.
