‘Life is trippy’ – Jake Paul shares a throwback photo from his first meeting as a kid with his next opponent and UFC legend Anderson “The Spider” Silva

When Jake Paul and UFC legend Anderson Silva square off in the ring on Oct. 29, it won’t be the first time they’ve come face to face.

This will be Paul’s first fight of the year, having not stepped into the ring since knocking out Tyron Woodley in their rematch in December 2021.

Paul had planned a fight with Tommy Fury, Tyson’s younger brother, on August 6 at Madison Square Garden, but it fell through after the Briton was denied entry into the United States.

Hasim Rahman Jr, the son of former heavyweight champion Hasim, was a late substitute, but once again the fight was canceled due to weight issues.

It looked like Paul was on a lull in his professional boxing career, but he’s now back in full force in October when he takes on Silva, the longest reigning champion in UFC history.

Silva also has impressive boxing experience, having knocked out former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and beating former WBC world middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

It’s comfortably the toughest test of Paul’s career to date and the pair actually have more history than many people realize, as they met before the social media star even became famous.

Paul posted a throwback photo to his Twitter, showing him as a child with his brother, Logan Paul, when they met Silva at a local MMA fight in Ohio.

“How it started vs how it goes,” Paul wrote.

“Fun fact, Anderson was the only celebrity I ever met before moving to LA.

“He was randomly in Ohio at a local MMA fight and I flirted with the girl from the ring map who brought us on stage to meet him… life is trippy.”

Paul also posted a video on his YouTube channel talking about the upcoming fight “We all know the saying, hustle until your idols become your rivals and that’s when you know you’ve made it, and that’s exactly what we have here today.

“It’s absolutely crazy, I’m fighting not only one of my idols, but one of the greatest strikers in combat sports history, Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva.

“Yes his nickname is ‘The Spider’ and on October 29th I will exterminate ‘The Spider’.

Paul then followed up with a bizarre skit about exterminating spiders, cracking jokes like “I’m the eight-legged arachnid killer” and “you’re the “spider” but I became famous on the web and you get caught in your own web.
