Letter to the editor: Rosatom responds on Zaporizhzhia

In response to the opinion piece titled How scary is the threat to Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant? Published by EUobserver on August 18, Rosastom’s official statement regarding Zaporizhzhia is as follows:

“Our employees are present on site to ensure the safety of the Zaporozhskaya NPP by offering technical, advisory, communication and other assistance to the operator if necessary.
“We categorically deny any involvement of Rosatom or any of its employees in the management or operations of the plant at any level.
“They do not interfere in the executive decision-making of plant management, and do not participate in any way in security, perimeter access control or other control-related activities.
“Rosatom is committed to full transparency about the work of its employees in the field and to liaising closely with the management of the International Atomic Energy Agency to keep the UN’s nuclear watchdog informed of any significant development.”
