Left leveling ‘fantasy charges’ in response to Buffalo shot because they’re out of options: Steele

The left has been reduced to “scraping around tragedies” like the fatal Buffalo shooting in order to exploit it for political gain, Hoover Institution senior fellow Shelby Steele told Tucker Carlson on Tuesday in “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” . Steele said leftists throwing “fanciful accusations” against those who disagree with their ideology are fueled by desperation because their options are rapidly diminishing.

SHELBY STEEL: They seem to have no more arrows in their quiver to fight, to struggle, and so they’re reduced to sort of scratching these tragedies like what happened in Buffalo as something that you can transform from tragedy to able. I think at the end of the day it’s probably always, very often, a matter of power and whatever narrative or scenario takes power, that’s what they do, let it have makes sense or not.

I’m not entirely sure what makes them jump above reality, [they are] so happy to skip reality at this kind of fanciful accusations they make, but they obviously don’t get us anywhere. At this point, they are almost ready for anything. They seem to have very few qualms about how to move forward in American life at this point. My little humble opinion is, I’ve written a lot about this, that one of the great forces – one of the most powerful forces in American life today is white guilt. And the guilt, you have to seem like it’s against your own best interests to get that atonement, that redemption that white guilt basically seems to want. And it seems to me that they are caught up in that. That much. It gets us nowhere. You cannot solve the guilt.

Part of the problem, I think, that happened to the left is that they got burnt out. Their ideas…we’ve been driven by those ideas since at least the 60s. They fail relentlessly. I mean, they fail with some kind of absolute precision. And that–that’s where they are. They are desperate.
