Lea Michele’s 2-year-old son in hospital with ‘scary health issue’, says ‘Funny Girl’ star


Lea Michele apologized to fans on Wednesday, saying she would miss two Broadway performances of “Funny Girl” because of her 2-year-old son’s “scary health issue.”

“So sorry but unfortunately I will be absent from @FunnyGirlBwy today,” the ‘Glee’ star, who starred in the Broadway revival of the 1964 musical, wrote on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday. “We are in hospital with our son struggling with a frightening medical condition that I have to be here for.”

She added, “I’m so sorry. Please send us love and strength,” along with a photo of her hugging his arm as he lay in bed with a stuffed animal.

Michele did not share any further details about her son’s health. Fox News Digital has reached out to the actress’ rep for comment.

Michele, 36, has been playing Fanny Brice at the August Wilson Theater since last September, taking over from Beanie Feldman.

“Funny Girl” has confirmed that Michele will miss both matinee and evening performances on Wednesday and that Julie Benko will take over for her.

Michele has extended her run in the musical, expecting to stay until it closes in September.

She is also set to perform at a one-night reunion of “Ragtime” next Monday at the Minskoff Theater.

Michele detailed her “very scary” pregnancy to Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2021, saying she struggled to conceive after being diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome and was bleeding profusely in her first trimester, causing her to conceive. forced her to stay in bed.
