Lazio 1-4 Bay Munich

Jamal Musiala became England’s youngest goalscorer in the Champions League, with Bayern beating Lazio 4-1 in the first leg of their eighth game in Rome.

The 17-year-old midfielder scored the second of the German side’s three goals in the first half as they practically secured their place in the quarter-finals.

Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring by capitalizing on a back pass from Mateo Musacchio and shooting at home in the opening 10 minutes of the game.

It was the Pole’s 72nd goal in the competition, moving away from Raul to become the third highest scorer in the history of the competition after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Musiala then doubled the lead, scoring low in the corner of the net and in so doing, becoming the second youngest player of any nationality to score in the Champions League round of 16.

Only Bojan for Barcelona against Schalke in 2008 can improve his record.

Leroy Sane made three just before half-time, stabbing at home after Pepe Reina pushed Kingsley Coman’s shot in his way to leave humiliation imminent for Serie A opponents Bayern.

When Francesco Acerbi hit his own net early in the second half, Lazio’s situation worsened but Joaquin Correa pulled one out almost immediately and that is how it stayed.

Not that Hansi Flick’s team are too confused. This result sends a warning that the defending champions are still the team to beat.
