A lawyer dressed as a horror movie character on a Texas beach said his eccentric actions were just a joke to make people smile.
But it also led to the arrest of Mark Metzger, the Galveston lawyer some people have seen roaming a local beach in a Michael Myers costume. He was cited for disorderly conduct and released by Galveston Police, KTRK reported.
Police received a call Monday about a masked man holding what appeared to be a bloodied knife as he walked on the beach before Tropical Storm Nicholas, according to the Galveston Daily News.
Officers found Metzger disguised as a serial killer from the “Halloween” movies and handcuffed him before determining the blood and knife were fake, the newspaper reported.
Metzger said in a Facebook post Monday night that he was “still unclear as to what exactly was illegal.”
“Bringing positive vibes to gloom and unhappiness, generating laughter, helping people smile and restoring our faith in humanity through humor is 100% who I am,” Metzger said. “It’s all I’ve been my whole life. My methods might not work for everyone, but I guarantee I’m going to please more than I’m going to piss off.”
Interviewed by KTRK, he compared his arrest to a scene from another popular franchise – this one a little more kid-friendly.
“It sounded like a scene from ‘Scooby-Doo’ after they handcuffed me and took off the mask, like, ‘I would have been okay without those Karen intruding, you know? he said to the station.
He said in his Facebook post that he would do the “all day, every day” prank again.
