Drone drops food for trapped dogs in La Palma
Since October 8, two drone companies have been cooperating with local authorities to help locate and feed the trapped animals as the lava flow advances from the Cumbre Vieja volcano. Lava from the eruption that began on September 19 devastated nearly 600 hectares in total, authorities said. Torrents of molten rock destroyed more than 1,100 buildings in the three weeks following the eruption, the Canary Islands Volcanic Institute said. About 6,700 people were evacuated from their homes in La Palma, which has a population of around 83,000.
