Laura Woods has delivered a perfect response to Noel Gallagher calling Arsenal supporters ‘idiots’.
The musician, best known for being part of Oasis, made waves when he appeared on talkSPORT on Tuesday when he took aim at fans at the north London club.
He laughed off suggestions the Gunners could sign Ilkay Gundogan this summer.
Speaking on White And Jordan, Gallagher said: “I love it with it because the fans are idiots! They are! They have more fan channels than any club in the sports world.
“There are about 1,000, you can’t watch YouTube without seeing a fan channel.
“I know quite a few (Arsenal fans) and they took the plunge in January/February and they know they were.
“And I watch enough of their fan channels because it’s a lot of fun and they know they were, they come out with it, ‘it’s good versus evil and all the money’ and stuff. It’s just like, suck it up.
However, Gallagher was never going to get away with his comments with Woods, an avid Arsenal fan, with the presenter putting the Oasis star firmly in his place.
Speaking on The Sports Breakfast, Woods said: “You can call all football fans idiots, can’t you? They’re just passionate, aren’t they?
“Noel, the reason they have more fan channels is because we have more fans, sorry!
“Mikel Arteta doesn’t have to tell his fans to liven up a bit to get them going, I’m just saying, Noel. As much as I love you…
“He can say whatever he wants. They’ve absolutely done us this season and so he’s absolutely right in some ways, but not the fans. We’re all idiots. Everyone is idiots!”
Woods continued, “I remember getting a lot of batting for not supporting them. Since the start of the season, I never said City would turn it on in the run-in and they did.
“Noel, if you call our guys idiots we’ll have to play you ‘miserable Mark’ who said ‘I wasn’t even impressed, it was a bit of an anti-climax to win. As we did, I was a little annoyed by it’, come on!
“I’d rather have our fans than a fan like that.”
