Launch of the government plan for equality 2023-2026

Morocco adopts the strategic framework for the 2023-2026 government equality plan, which includes the women’s economic empowerment program, as well as the measures relating to the women’s economic empowerment program with a view to raise the female labor force participation rate by 2026.

THE head of government postponed, Friday, March 17, 2023 in Rabat, the first meeting of the National Committee for Gender Equality and the Advancement of Women, whose work was attributed to the presentation and adoption of the strategic framework of the government plan for equality 2023-2026, which includes the Women’s Economic Empowerment Program.

At the start of this meeting, Aziz Akhannouch recalled the tenor of the speech delivered by HM King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the glorious feast of the Throneconfirming that this speech by the sovereign breathed new life, through the royal directives relating to the need to promote the situation of the womento guarantee him all his rights and allow him access to all areas of development, as well as the royal directives relating to the revision of the family code and the implementation of the constitutional institutions concerned with family rights and of the woman.

Mr. Akhannouch confirmed that the government, which is working to implement the High Royal Directivesis determined to continue its action for the promotion of gender equality and the guarantee of political, social and economic rights of womenin harmony with the constitutional provisions, the recommendations of the New Development Model and the commitments of the government program.

He also specified that the government, anxious to speed up the pace of implementation of measures relating to the promotion of the status of women, ensured the creation of the National Committee for gender equality and the advancement of womenas a mechanism guaranteeing the convergence of related public strategies and policies and ensuring effective coordination between the various government departments concerned.

During this meeting, the members of the committee examined and adopted the strategic framework of the government plan for equality, which took into account all the ministerial departments and which took into account the recommendations of civil society actors. . This plan includes three main axes:

• women’s empowermentsection which has defined practical measures aimed at raising its activity rate by 2026;
• Prevention and protection of women and the fight against violence as a result;
• Strengthening values ​​for fight against stereotypesthe promotion of women’s rights and the fight against all forms of discrimination.

The Head of Government called on all the ministerial departments concerned to carry out the final consultations with a view to integrating into their budgetary programming for the year 2024, the measures ofwomen’s economic empowerment relating to each sector, to become strongly involved in the process of implementing the third government plan for equality and to commit to implementing its various measures by setting efficiency indicators.
