Lauderdale County convict dies in federal prison

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WHNT) – The Alabama Department of Corrections confirms that a 38-year-old inmate at Bibb Correctional Facility has been pronounced dead.

Cory Luke White was serving a 20-year prison sentence for first degree theft of property in Lauderdale County.

On August 9, ADOC officials said White was found unconscious in his cell.

Staff at Bibb Correctional Facility immediately began lifesaving procedures and transported White to the health care unit, where those lifesaving measures continued, officials said.

All efforts to revive him have failed, says ADOC. White was pronounced dead.

ADOC’s Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating the incident, officials said.

White’s death marks the fifth inmate to die at Bibb Correctional Facility since early June, according to statistical reports and ADOC statements.
