ando Norris spoke out against Formula 1’s “stupid” rule allowing red flag tire changes after Sunday’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
The McLaren driver was one of the few to stop under the safety car after Mick Schumacher’s crash, dropping him from sixth to 14th place before the majority of the field could undertake the restart with new tires due to the red flag.
This is not the first time that Norris, who finished 10th, has undergone red flag tire changes and the Briton believes the rule is dictated by a “TV point of view”.
Norris said: “It has happened a few times like obviously at Monza last year you just get a free pit stop and it ruined our race.
“I think Mugello ruined our race too, and here the same. Of course I’m always on the wrong side so it probably sucks more for me than anyone, but I think it’s just a very unfair rule that should be taken away.
“I think they should replace it with a mandatory pit stop with two different sets of tires to use, and then I think that’s okay.
“But that ruins everything, to be honest. You tried so hard to get him removed for a stupid rule. “
