For months now, the Charlotte Hornets have been certain that their guard LaMelo Ball is the future of the team.
Thursday night, he once again showed why.

In Thursday night’s win over the Orlando Magic, Ball was part of one of the best alley-oops of the season.
Going down the field, Ball went between his legs before throwing the backboard pass to Montrezl Harrell.
The dunk was triumphant, the crowd went wild and Ball looked like the star he is.
After her piece last night, Ball told The Charlotte Observer, “I thought it was a cool piece. I saw it coming so I threw it out the glass for real.
It was just another example of the enthusiastic, youthful energy he brings to the ground for almost every game.
The young guard is one of the most promising players in the league and is also capable of creating standout clips like the one featuring Harrell on Thursday.
But it’s also a solid pointer.
This season, Ball has averaged 20 points per game, along with 6.7 rebounds and 7.6 assists.
With numbers like that, some wonder why the Hornets aren’t doing better.
The team is currently 10th in the East and will face off in the qualifying tournament.
Once they acquire a few more solid players and have a deeper bench and better rotation, Ball can carry them much further into the playoffs.
There has been a rumor that Charlotte might be interested in landing Russell Westbrook this summer – is he the missing piece this team needs?
