Linnea Strom holds a three-stroke lead in Kenya

Linnea Strom holds a three-stroke lead over Nuria Iturrioz halfway through the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, while Scotland’s Michele Thomson climbed the standings after a brilliant second round.

Strom followed a first-round 68 with one out of 73 in tough scoring conditions at Vipingo Ridge, where only four players were able to post a below-par score for their second round.

The Swede mixed three birdies with two bogeys and a double bogey to head into the weekend on three under and the only red-numbered player, with Iturrioz second level after bouncing back four bogeys in a stretch of six holes around the turn to card a two under 70.

“I feel like I played better golf today than I did yesterday,” Strom said, despite having five shots worse than day one. “Obviously I birdied eight yesterday and only three today, so that makes a big difference.
