Kylian Mbappe scored a brace in his first appearance as France captain to ruin Ronald Koeman’s second start as Netherlands boss.
Didier Deschamps’ side cruised to a 4-0 victory over their European rivals in the first Euro 2024 qualifier.

In Koeman’s first game in charge of the Netherlands, the Dutch found themselves trailing 3-0 at half-time as the French cut easily.
And they were leading three after 21 minutes when Mbappe rushed in at a blistering pace as the ball headed for his feet.
With just Jasper Cillessen in his way, the Paris Saint-Germain star passed the goalkeeper in iconic fashion.
It was his first appearance since his official appointment as captain of the French national team.
Mbappe also picked up an assist in the opening moments of the match, setting up Antoine Griezmann in the second minute.
Dayot Upamecano doubled the lead minutes later after poor defending from a corner before Mbappe struck.

While Koeman’s side enjoyed more than their fair share of possession, their second debut was not going to be planned as Mbappe wrapped up the win in style with a superb solo effort.
As for France, it is clear that they are not experiencing any form of hangover after being beaten by Argentina in the final.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in that game and has continued his fine form for the national team ever since.
It’s his 37th and 38th goal for the 2018 World Cup champions, which sees him overtake Karim Benzema for France goals.
Olivier Giroud is the Blues’ top scorer with 53 while Mbappe already has 67 caps at 24.
