It was Easter Sunday and Jennifer Watson’s dogs, Peanut and Georgia, were out and about barking.
“I saw like a boat, like in the middle – and it was about 3/4 underwater,” said Jennifer Watson, a resident of Fayson Lakes.
Two panicked men and a child on the lake. Their boat was sinking.
“The dad was screaming, and he was like ‘help me, help me, I have my 3 year old son,’” Watson said.
Fortunately, they had quite the hero savior. Watson has been a champion swimmer since the age of five.
“I swam over to them and grabbed the 3-year-old and swam to the shore,” Watson said.
His neighbors on the lake are not at all surprised that Watson did not hesitate to take the plunge.
“Not at all, Jen is a very selfless person, she has been helping her mother since she was a teenager,” said neighbor Colleen Lazarus.
And there is so much more to Watson’s heart.
She was born the year after her mother Lynne was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
Lynne Watson took her last step on November 1, 2011, and her daughter stepped in.
“Jennifer is the most wonderful, the most generous, the most compassionate and the kindest,” said Lynne Watson.
Jennifer is indeed selfless, helping strangers in need and her mother, balancing the home and the future.
“Since she was about 14, she has been her mother’s primary caregiver,” Lazurus said. “Jen had the opportunity to go to school, but she chose to stay home and help her mom.
Their neighbors are hopeful that a GoFundme page will make sure the Watson doesn’t have to fight and hope it provides them with some support, like hiring home care so Jennifer Watson can have more time for her. Classes.
“She’s so awesome,” said Lynne Watson.
