Kidnapping alert in Lannion: Dewi, 8, found safe and sound with his father – Lannion

The end of long hours of waiting. In the afternoon of Saturday July 31, the father and his 8-year-old child, that he had removed more than 24 hours earlier, were found and arrested by the gendarmes near the hamlet of Sept-Saints in the town of Vieux-Marché.

“We had information saying that they had been seen in this corner, we moved the helicopter, dogs and staff,” said the gendarmes to AFP, specifying that there was no of “difficulties” during the interpellation.

70 gendarmes mobilized, the father placed in police custody

About 70 gendarmes were mobilized to find Dewi, who had been kidnapped late Friday morning at the House of the Lannion department. The father had abducted the child “suddenly by surprising the vigilance of those responsible for monitoring visitation rights”, before fleeing by car “with great haste”, the Saint-Brieuc prosecutor told AFP .

The 38-year-old was still wearing the beanie in which he had fled from the Lannion Department House the day before, after visiting his son. He did not put up any resistance during his arrest. The fugitive’s car was found in Buhulien, a town near Lannion, about 15 kilometers from where he was apprehended.

The man will be taken into custody at the Plouaret gendarmerie, while his child, who turns 8 today, will be brought to safety. Originally from the Rennes region, he has a criminal record.
