Khabib Nurmagomedov names lightweight fighter who hit him hardest in UFC career – and it’s not Conor McGregor or Dustin Poirier

Khabib Nurmagomedov insists Justin Gaethje “hit like a truck” and hits harder than any opponent he’s ever faced in his UFC career.

‘The Eagle’ retired from MMA with a perfect 29-0 record after beating Gaethje on Fight Island in October 2020 in a dominant fashion.

Khabib had already effectively knocked out the best in the lightweight division, having smothered Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier in his two previous fights.

While the world has hoped to see the Russian take on Tony Ferguson, he has never shied away from a challenge and faced some of the biggest punchers ever seen in the 155-pound division.

Despite facing the murderous left in the furious gusts of McGregor and Poirier, the 32-year-old insists it was Gaethje who hit him harder than any opponent he has ever faced .

” This guy [Justin Gaethje] hit like a truck, you know, ”Nurmagomedov told Mike Tyson on his podcast in August.

“Nobody hit me harder than Justin Gaethje. His kick, his punch, his left hook, right hook, right uppercut.

“I force him to hit me, you know. When I go to the cage and I was sitting, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m going to go, I’m going to take him to the depths of the ocean.

“I’m going to tire him out in the stand-up and I’m going to take him to the ground and finish him off.
