Khabib Nurmagomedov was filmed wildly celebrating Fedor Emelianenko’s crushing knockout against Tim Johnson at Bellator 269.
“The Last Emperor” put a huge right hand on his opponent’s chin to extinguish Johnson’s lights in front of his audience.
The 45-year-old was fighting in Russia for the first time in five years, but he remains a serious threat to the Bellator’s top heavyweights.
Johnson pushed forward on the first bell, but a combination of three knocks staggered the American and the final blow sent him spiraling across the canvas.
Khabib may be retired from MMA, but that doesn’t mean his love of the sport has waned in any form and “The Eagle” was spotted in the wildly celebrating crowd when Johnson hit the bridge.
The Russian was around to help his cousin Usman Nurmagomedov secure a victory over Patrik Pietila, before retreating to his seat and then going mad when Fedor found the decisive punch.
Once considered the best in the world, Emelianenko is approaching retirement, but he is still able to deliver moments of magic in front of his beloved fans.
“It’s a huge event for us,” he said of the fighting in his home country. “It’s been a long time since I’ve fought in Russia so it’s a really big deal and I’m glad we managed to do it.”
It’s been a year since fans saw Khabib fight in a cage, with the undisputed former world lightweight champion celebrating the anniversary of his submission victory over Justin Gaethje on Sunday.
The 33-year-old locked himself in a triangular choke at UFC 254 on Fight Island, before collapsing inside the Octagon and announcing his decision to retire.
