Kelly Clarkson Jokes Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Have ‘Taken Over’ the NFL: ‘It’s Like Watching Housewives’

Kelly Clarkson is not amused by Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s NFL-interfering romance.

While interviewing comedian Bowen Yang on Friday’s episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the host and her guest discussed the recent episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which mocked coverage of Swift’s budding relationship and Kelce. The “Since You’ve Been Gone” singer admitted the skit was “hilarious,” but she’s not a fan of what happens in real life.

“Isn’t it hilarious how the NFL is literally taking over people who love watching sports now,” she said. “It’s like you’re watching ‘Housewives’ while you’re watching.”

The former ‘Voice’ coach explained that since Swift started attending games to watch Kelce play, NFL commentators spend the majority of their time “just talking about gossip,” while she wonders : “And the room?,” before jokingly adding: “They’re taking over!”

TAYLOR SWIFT FEELING “PROTECTED AND CHERISHED” BY THE “REAL GENTLEMAN” TRAVIS KELCE: EXPERT

In the sketch, “SNL” cast members Kenan Thompson, Mikey Day, James Austin Johnson, Devon Walker and Molly Kearney parodied the “Fox NFL Sunday” panel, with the group of comedians attempting to discuss an Eagles game from Philadelphia vs. the New York Jets without mentioning Swift — a task that proved easier said than done.

Thompson, as host Curt Menefee, struggled to keep the rest of the panel on track as they began to debate him over whether Swift and Kelce were a couple or just friends, and while They started singing one of Swift’s songs. After several attempts to keep the men on the subject, Thompson went to commercial saying, “When we come back, we’re going to talk to someone who really wants to talk about football”, after which Kelce made a surprise appearance.

“It was so wild. We didn’t expect them to come. I turn the corner, they’re at the page office and… I’m like, ‘Oh, there are two of the tallest people I ‘I’ve never seen them. Who are they?'” Yang explained after seeing Kelce and Swift on the set of “SNL.” “And then I was like, ‘Oh, my God, wow, it’s them! OK, they’re here,’ and it was crazy.”

Swift also made a surprise appearance introducing the episode’s musical guest, Ice Spice, with whom she collaborated on her song “Karma.”

Clarkson and Yang then discussed Swift’s success with her Eras Tour, with Clarkson calling Swift’s decision to turn the concert into a film a “smart idea” because it allows those who weren’t able to attend any of the live shows to . , like herself, the opportunity to experience the show differently. “There’s so much nostalgia from people who have been fans for so long,” she added.

Clarkson was amazed at how many people were so invested in the film, joking that “hikers are making bracelets and handing them out” and saying Swift has “such an amazing street team.”

“It (the movie) was everywhere. I literally ate at a restaurant down here, and we were leaving, Caitlyn, who was serving us, said, ‘Hey, I made these bracelets,’ and she said something and for the beginnings or something,” Clarkson said. “I just agreed. I was like, ‘Thank you, that was so nice,’ and then I left and we were like, ‘What are they talking about?'”
