Katy Perry explains a recent moment from her Las Vegas show that got her fans talking a lot.
On Thursday, Perry took to Instagram to address a clip that has gone viral online: the singer’s right eye appears to be closing several times on its own. However, Perry teased that it was a stunt and part of her performance.
“Welcome all my #flatearthers #spaceisfakers #birdsarentrealers #skyisntbluers to come see my broken doll eye trick IRL in Vegas next year!” she captioned a video of the moment.
“Damn, I’m pouring beer out of my t–s (that’s a party trick too…I don’t really lactate stupid goose hops!),” she added.
The “California Gurls” singer, 38, took advantage of the viral moment to announce that her residency in Las Vegas has been extended for 14 more shows. She explained the upcoming shows to her fans as “a pleasure [rollercoaster] down memory lane all the way back to 2008.”

Perry added, “This show is a non-stop party about finding unconditional love and strangely (to me) not political at all.”
She concluded her caption by sharing her excitement for her residency dates in 2023. “I hope to sing with you in 2023! And we’ll drink, this one’s for me, because we’re all #chainedtothealgorithm #levraiproblèmemlolhaha”, she wrote.
Perry’s eye sparked a conversation on TikTok about the cause of the incident.
“His clone was glitchy. It’s scary,” wrote one user. Another added: “His robot seems to be having a lot of problems.”
“Is she getting an update? asked another person. “It looks like a programming problem.”
Other users have pointed out that her eyelash glue could have gotten stuck, preventing a single eye from opening.

“I put on too much eyelash glue and my eye stayed closed,” one user commented, adding laughing emojis.
On her Instagram post, some fans wanted to make sure the pop star was okay.
Perry recently celebrated her 38th birthday with her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, and their three-year-old daughter, Daisy.
“Every time we take a trip around the sun and celebrate you, it reminds me that on this journey together and whatever the weather, I always smile,” Bloom captioned her birthday tribute to Perry.
