Karon Blake’s killer charged with second degree murder

We hate to have to keep reporting on these things, but unfortunately, without proper media attention, violence against black people can easily be swept under the rug. Not under our supervision.

According to NBCWashington, a DC government employee has been arrested and charged with the second degree murder of Karon Blake. BOSSIP reported the shooting in July last year when the suspect said he saw someone allegedly “tampering with a car” and decided the appropriate action was to discharge his weapon. The narrator says, “It was not appropriate”.

As a result, Jason Lewis, 41, is currently being held without bond until his court appearance on February 13.

Surveillance video described in court documents shows Blake shouting “I’m sorry!” I’m only 12!” as Lewis is seen shooting both a “getaway car” and Blake. On Tuesday, the judge presiding over the case said Lewis appeared to be the assailant. Metropolitan Police Chief Robert said despite social media rumors that race was at the heart of the murder, Lewis is an African American man.

Obviously, Chief Robert has never heard of self-hatred.

In most states, killing someone for “tampering with a car” is not a justification for self-defense, but we’ll be monitoring this case to see if any new information comes to light.
