Kamala Harris will become the first vice president to be commemorated at New York’s famous Madame Tussauds wax museum, which will reveal her likeness and that of President Joe Biden later this year.
Biden and Harris wax figures will be on display in the museum’s “Oval Office Experience”.
A team of London-based studio artists scoured hundreds of images to get an exact likeness of the couple. The clay heads took six weeks to sculpt and the bodies will take between four and six months to complete.
“We are honored to create a figure for Vice President Harris and to reflect this important moment in United States history for the guests of Madame Tussauds New York,” said Brittany Williams, spokesperson for Madame Tussauds.
Biden and Harris wax figures will wear replicas of the outfits they wore on opening day. Biden’s figure will be dressed in a midnight blue Ralph Lauren suit, a white dress shirt with a French cuff and a lavender tie, the museum said.
The clothes for Harris’ figure were designed by Christopher John Rogers, the same designer who dressed Harris for his swearing-in ceremony. The Harris wax figure will wear a replica of the purple blazer and dress worn on the opening day. Harris’ gold and pearl necklace, earrings, bracelets and rings will also be replicated to complete the look.
