Juvenile charged after 5 horses shot and 3 injured in Virginia

A miner in the center Virginia faces felony charges after authorities say five horses were shot and killed.
The Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office said it was notified Tuesday by animal control officials of multiple horses being shot in the town of Spout Spring, about 80 miles south of Charlottesville.
Authorities said five of the horses were found fatally shot and three other horses were injured. Veterinary care was called to tending to injured horses, as investigators scramble to determine who was behind the shooting.
On Wednesday, Appomattox County sheriffs “were able to develop information” that led to a minor being charged with the injured horses offense.
