The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. The Los Angeles Times reported that Woods was traveling “at high speed and lost control of the vehicle before passing through the center splitter.” Woods was the only person in the car and had to be cleared from the wreckage, according to the Los Angeles County Sherriff Department.
Justin Thomas, one of Woods’ closest friends on the PGA Tour, learned news of the crash shortly before showing up for a virtual press conference ahead of this week’s WGC-Workday Championship.
“I mean, my stomach hurts,” Thomas said. “It hurts to see one of your closest friends have an accident. Dude, I just hope he’s okay. Just worry about her kids, you know. I’m sure they’re struggling.
Thomas also posted a follow-up tweet, saying he “was hoping for an incredible recovery.”
I have a stomach ache right now. Prayed for @Tiger Woods and hoping for an incredible recovery. Thinking of all his family and his team, because we send you all our best wishes. We know TW is a fighter. Get well soon 🐅 !!!
