Switch to Mac?
Justin Fields is hosting a second professional day on April 14, giving the teams a second opportunity to spot and visit the Ohio State quarterback. The 49ers, who were in attendance on Fields’ first professional day that did not include head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch, are expected to be present at the event.
To make things more interesting, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Lynch and Shanahan should both be in attendance.

MORE: Who The 49ers Take In Last Mock NFL Draft
Intriguing, to say the least. If pre-draft speculation is to be believed, Fields went from QB2 to a questionable top 10 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and the 49ers, sitting third overall, would have been hot after the quarter – Alabama Mac Jones rear. .
The 49ers brain trust missed Fields’ first pro day on Alabama pro day, spotting Crimson Tide talent including Jones. Analysts believe Fields’ world athleticism and production in Ohio state puts him ahead of Alabama’s Jones.
San Francisco took the first big step forward in the 2021 draft round, trading all the way to No.3 from No.12, giving them a chance to write at least one of the top five quarterbacks, a list which includes Jones, Fields, Zach Wilson of BYU, Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Trey Lance of North Dakota State.
Lawrence and Wilson are expected to rank 1-2 at the Jaguars and Jets, respectively, leaving the 49ers with rampant speculation that they traded for Jones on Fields.
Now, with a second visit to see Fields, the conversation about who goes to # 3 just got more interesting.
