Jurgen Klopp responds bluntly to Solskjaer’s sacking at Man United

While some managers are openly talking about their fellow Premier League departures, the Reds boss has focused on Anfield ahead of their last Champions League clash.

When asked if he had any opinions on United’s decision, Klopp said: “I’m not prepared for this question, I haven’t thought about Man United for a second. Sorry.”

Porto’s visit is a heavy blow for Group B winners Liverpool, although their opponents are battling Atletico Madrid and AC Milan for second place.

Klopp has hinted that he will turn his players around in the middle of a busy run of matches, with that first of 11 games before the end of the year.

“We always respect the competition but first we have to think about ourselves, our schedule and the situation of our players,” he said. “At this time of the season, the medical department has a big hand in the rosters.

“It’s really easy to sit there, all of you judging us, and say, ‘Leave it out, leave it out, leave it out.’ If we leave them all out and play with a team that is not a Champions League team – we don’t have enough players for that, by the way – then nobody can get hurt.

“We have to field a team that has a chance to win a football match. Le Diogo [Jota] the situation was very unlucky. I hated it, that I made the decision. But would I still have made the same decision? This is the only question I have to answer. Yes, I would do it again, because it takes stability.

“We can’t play soccer games with this lineup, then then a squad that has no chance of winning a game, and then bring them back again.

“Players need rhythm, all that stuff. Am I making the decision because I don’t care who gets injured in the lineup tomorrow? No I can’t and I won’t. not. These things are happening in football. I hope nothing happens tomorrow. “
