Romelu Lukaku is said to be hurt by the criticism he has received at Manchester United, according to Jose Mourinho.
Belgium striker Lukaku has often been at the center of United supporters’ frustrations during his time at the club, despite a good record of goals.

Mourinho, who joined talkSPORT Breakfast for an hour on Friday morning, was the man who brought the tall Belgian to Old Trafford in 2017.
Lukaku scored 42 goals in just two seasons at the club, before being sold to Inter Milan.
In Serie A, he has taken his game to another level and has hit the back of the net 64 times since arriving in 2019.
He helped them win the Serie A title this season and Mourinho thinks he knows why he reached these heights in Italy.

“Astonishing [season], I would say he’s fulfilled his qualities now, ”Mourinho told talkSPORT when asked about Lukaku.
“I thought he got something from Inter that he needed. He needs to feel that he is the man and that he is number one and that he is loved.
“He was loved by the coach and the supporters and made a big impact. The press also supports him. He has this love.
“Romelu is the kind of guy who even scores goals in England… that wasn’t the right profile for Manchester United. It hurts. If he doesn’t score goals, what he does for the team is not enough. It hurts him.
“Then another, he doesn’t have enough quality to hold the ball. He’s not [Eric] Cantona, it is not [Dimitar] Berbatov. Of course, he’s not Cantona or Berbatov. He is Lukaku.
“In Italy, they use it that way. You know the way Conte likes to play, five in the back, three midfielders still in position, Lukaku and Lautaro [Martinez] in attack.
“Lautaro gave up and Lukaku attacked spaces. He just killed opponents.
“He was not the top scorer [in Serie A this season] because Cristiano [Ronaldo] was the first, but Lukaku scored a lot of goals. He has a lot of passion and is connected with the supporters.

Mourinho, who will take over from Rome next season, also spoke about the Italian fans and the intensity they bring.
The former Inter boss said: added: “In Italy they are very passionate, much more than here. In Italy you feel that they hate you every minute and you feel that they love you every minute. It was like Inter fans loved him every minute of it.
“You go out for coffee and you can feel it. You have to put gasoline in your car and you can smell it.
“It brought out the best in Romelu.”
