Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) said Wednesday on CNN’s “The Lead” that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) should withdraw from the presidential race because he won’t get the votes.
Presenter Jake Tapper said: “Actually, Jordan is doing worse than yesterday. He got fewer votes than yesterday. A spokesperson for Jordan said he would not give up. We will continue “. Do you think Jordan will hit 217 soon, or do you think he’ll continue to do worse and worse?
Bacon said, “I think he’s done.” He must withdraw. He will lose more votes tomorrow. I know that. I know who will cross and change. He has no path to 217.”
He continued: “There are two different reasons for this. We have a group that worked with him ten years ago. They worked with him on the credits, with more experienced people. He created a lot of chaos. I’m in the other camp where I don’t like how he got here.
Bacon added: “The final straw for me was when five Jordanians said they would never vote for Steve when he wins a majority. Jim was there and he didn’t speak, which means he’s somewhat complicit. You can’t play a game where I’m the only one who follows the rules and the other one doesn’t. It’s not American. We believe in fairness and the law applies to everyone. This was not the case for a small group of individuals here.
